About

Statistician, researcher and educator working at the intersection of statistical process monitoring, machine learning and applied data science, with international experience in academia, clinical research and industry.

Biography

I am Dr. Babar Zaman, an Assistant Professor at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Topi, Pakistan. My work combines statistical methodology, computational modelling and interdisciplinary applications to improve process monitoring, detect emerging changes and support decisions informed by data.

I earned my PhD in Mathematics, specializing in Statistics, from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2021. My doctoral research focused on mixed and adaptive memory control charts for process monitoring. I also hold master’s degrees in Statistics from Lund University, Sweden, and Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan.

My research spans adaptive and multivariate control charts, robust statistical methods, machine learning and biostatistics. Recent collaborative work extends to Bayesian physics-informed neural networks and digital twins for dynamical systems.

Alongside research, I teach statistics, probability, linear algebra and mathematics for machine learning, and supervise postgraduate research. My professional background includes university teaching in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, clinical research and disease-registry development at King Khalid Eye Specialist Hospital, and data analysis in Denmark.
